SCOUTS

Ist Simcoe Scouts
St. James has been the sponsor of 1st Simcoe Scouts since 1946. Over the years they have been very successful, and offered a program based on the Scout Promise and Law :“to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled and play a constructive role in society.”
Until January 2011, the scouting groups met in St. James facilities. However, lack of space has made it necessary for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to move to First Baptist Church which has a large activity room. The Venturers and Group Committee continue to meet at St. James. This is an excellent example of churches working together to provide for young people.
In February, during Baden Powell week, the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts attend a church service at St. James to honour Lord Baden Powell, and to reaffirm their promise and commitment to God.
The scouting program involves many activities, such as camping and outdoor programs to develop skills and character while having fun. We are proud of the youth who work hard to earn badges and “to do a good turn everyday”.
